Ink grades are selected on system compatibility, dispersion behaviour and the end use of the printed item. Where a grade is recorded against an ink system in the data sheet, that is stated on the grade page — not inferred from the C.I. number.

What to send with an enquiry

The system you are working in (for example a specific ink or coating type) and the end use of the finished article.
Target performance: shade, strength, fastness or heat requirement — with the test method if you already have one.
Volume and destination, so packing and documents can be quoted together.
If the grade is still open: the current grade (any manufacturer) and what is not working.

A different C.I. number is a different chemistry. A different grade of the same C.I. number is a different product. Substitution is proposed with the data, not assumed from the index.
